Gently down the stream

Summer morning best

Wasn't it wonderfully beautiful this morning? Perhaps even the best early summer morning of the whole year. The marshes were just fizzing with life (we don't call them 'marshes' round here, we call them 'water meadows' or 'moors' but that's just Winchester-posh, they are marshes!).

Had fun photographing moorhen chicks, a blackbird, a pig and the swan was down there as well, but in the end these chaps stole my heart. The sign says they're British Whites, but is also a tad economical with the truth as the picture drawn on the No Entry notice has soothing udders attached and these are definitely boys!!! They've been set to chomp down a section of reed bed, and by the look of it they're having a good time doing so.

I could use long words about them, like 'bucolic' or 'decorative', but have to admit I'm putting them up here just because they're sweet...
