Today's Adventure
For some ludicrous reason, we have taken all this time to pay our first visit to Whitelee Windfarm on Eaglesham Moor. Our expectations of size and scale were high, but they were exceeded by miles, literally! I knew it was a big farm, but I had not imagined the massive extent and beauty of it, especially on a perfect winter day.
I cannot praise enough the planning for public use of and access to the windfarm, enhancing nature and opening it up to walkers, nature-lovers, geographers, bikers, doggie people, horsey people, school parties, all using the grid of paths, today snow covered and frozen but easy to walk on. There is even a network of mountain biking paths from which walkers are barred.
Superb wee restaurant and highly informative exhibition.
Can't wait to go back with a longer walk planned; today just three miles, but you could walk for hours. And how appropriate to thrill to this development while taking an online course about setting underground explosions with electrical charges and pumping chemicals into the earth for a mere 25 years worth of gas. Mmmm!
