Cat wisdom
A snotty, wheezy, snuffly day for which I had several things planned but after a restless night I took one look at the three sleeping cats who were in a determined occupation of our bed and decided to take a leaf out of their book and join them.
Several hours and some mugs of hot lemon juice and honey later I felt a bit better so tackled a couple of pressing admin tasks (sorting out my uke songbook and writing up notes from the Westminster meeting) from the comfort of the Occupied Bed and, after having a snooze, enjoyed the absolute bliss of actually reading the paper rather then whizzing through it.
I very rarely read the book reviews but this caught my eye. Her comment about 'you lucky sods who have decades ahead of you' really struck a chord with me.
No, I'm not ill but - without wanting to sound doom and gloomy - it's a fact that I have already lived much longer than I am likely to live on this earth so it's up to me to make the most of opportunities which come my way, to choose which 'causes' to champion, to maintain balance (where possible) and to remember to give thanks.
I'm writing this on Sunday morning after having a good night's sleep and - following what I call cat wisdom - have decided to take today 'off' as well, despite wanting to go to the Norwich Rising dance practice. I'll be at the event next Saturday, but today there is radio to be listened to and papers to be read.
