Stained glass window
This is a very small section of the stained glass window behind the altar in St Mary Magdalene, East Keswick. The church dates from 1857, and the stained glass reflects the views and perspectives of the time. So here, we see Jesus as blond, rather than the almost certain darker hair he would have had. His clothes are given rich vibrant colours - colours which would have been the preserve of the wealthy and high status individuals, rather than the more drab colours of the ordinary man. It's designed to show Jesus as the king over all others. Despite this, he is seated, engaged in conversation with the disciples, teaching them.
