The hole in the wall
This is in the curtain wall of the castle bailey. I thought of it as amusing because I had just used a 'hole in the wall'. I was not feeling inspired with pictures today I took this on the way home at lunch time.
I spent the morning carefully unpacking a lot of bric-a-brac which had been carefully wrapped in newspaper and boxed into 4 cardboard cartons of different sizes. It was quite obviously someone's life's collection. There were over 100 items (I know because they were gift aided so all had to be tagged with bar-codes). It included a lot of small figurines, picture plates and glassware. Nothing in sets just a few pairs and lots of oddments. Quite poignant. The saddest things were those with the inscriptions of 'Golden Wedding Anniversary'.
It is nice the family donated them though. They are now all sorted and labelled on the basement shelves.
We think a lot of them will sell quite well in a 'Mother's day' display.
Alex had to be at school at 6am for a 6:15 start this morning to travel to Bath to see the Roman ruins with his Latin group. He arrived back at 7pm - as predicted - so a long day. He seems to have enjoyed it.
(I was up and doing laundry by 6:30 on account of it!)
I am tired now and off to bed...
Night night!
