Poor Mr Fox
Fred spotted this sandy whiskered gentleman under our bay tree in the front garden about 9am when we had all staggered down for Sunday breakfast. I worked out fairly quickly that he was not moving far in response to us tapping on the window or even opening the front door - just a feeble attempt to get up that failed.
I phoned the RSPCA and they asked me to go out with a broom and walk towards him - I did - and he stayed there as I touched the broom to his tail. (Myki came out with me and stood watching from the door step).
I could see his right front leg was swollen and messy looking.
A woman came out for him after just half an hour (better service than humans get!) She lassoed him and turned him over. She said he was quite an old boy and it seemed he had nothing worse than the leg injury although she couldn't be sure. She had had a busy morning already as she had just come from picking up an injured badger nearby.
So whatever else happens today - I think Foxy gets the blip slot! I hope he can be fixed up but if not at least he won't sit suffering.
Day 1 of some exercises...
Now I can eat the roast with less guilt!
