The blue bridge is open
Was it ever closed?
Dangerous structure!
To be fixed we supposed.
Our favourite walks
Preternaturally short
walking in circles
is no sort of sport!

I went for a look see
Out of our way
My time was so short
on a difficult day
And there it is! Open!
bit shabby, bit squeaky
They took down the notice
How incredibly sneaky!

It hasn't been painted
The planks are still rotten
The rivets quite shiny
Buffed by footsteps forgotten
The river runs under
The washlands still beckon
so why was it closed?
Out of spite we all reckon!
