The view through hole in the castle wall!
On a headland to the north of St Andrews stand the ruins of the city's castle, once the residence of the bishops and archbishops of St Andrews - the focal point of the church in Medieval Scotland. The ruins sit on a rocky promontory overlooking a small beach called Castle Sands and the adjoining North Sea.
It was my first visit and under a blue, blue sky the setting was quite spectacular.
