The Humphy-Backit Heron
A regular visitor to the botanic gardens in St Andrews - this Heron sat patiently (for a time!) while I blipped. I'm always reminded of the poem by J.K Annand -
The humphy-backit heron
Nearly as big as me
Stands at the waterside
Fishing for his tea
Skinny ma-linky lang legs jist like reeds
Fools aa the puddocks
Soomin mang the weeds
Here comes a rottan
A rottan soomin past
He jabs it, he stabs it
Soon it's in his wane
Then flippity-flap
He's aff hame again.
