Ormonde Hill
Poppy is pleased with the newly painted flag pole.
Yesterday when we were on the hill with Freddie we met the elderly gentleman who lives locally and walks up the hill every day. I have spoken about him before, the dogs love him. He reminds me of an elderly Dr. Doolittle. He walks a group of little dogs belonging to his elderly(!!!!!) neighbours, adopts these dogs if the owner becomes incapable of looking after them, feeds the birds in the woods, puts out food for foxes and, importantly for our dogs, has pockets full of dog treats.
Yesterday he was minus dogs and minus bird food but was carrying a tin of paint. His task for the day was to paint the flag pole that had been blown down in the gales. I was concerned for him as the wind on the hill was bitter yesterday and he assured me that if he got too cold he would leave it for another day. So today we went up to have a look at his handiwork. The pole was a shining white, now awaiting some other community spirited person to erect it again.
