Snowdrops....

After a long winter it's always uplifting to see the first snowdrops of the year. These are part of an art installation at Manchester Art Gallery to draw attention to a World War I exhibition currently on. Just as the snowdrops symbolise hope after winter, the little flowers also represent the rebirth of hope after a war. When they have finished flowering they will be planted in the parks and gardens of the city to join the thousands planted last autumn as part if the World War I commemorations.
