On the corner of Chancery Lane and Brown Street, tucked behind Atlas Chambers, Ship Canal Street and Edwin Lutyens' Midland Bank is one of the prettiest Victorian buildings in the city, Lombard Chambers. It's built of the local sandstone. It was originally a private bank. It was built in 1868 and is ornately decorated with a daisy motif. Here you can see them in the beautiful carvings under this ornate window. They are carved into the surroundings of the windows. And they are repeated on the wrought iron balcony railings. If you look to the left and right of the picture, the daisies even appear, in wrought iron form, along a ledge looking like the flowers that a small child might draw. It's a charming building. Although small, it more than holds its own against it bigger neighbours...
