Road sweepers cottage, Rhigos Mountains, Rhondda.
This cottage was occupied for years by a road sweeper whose main job was to clear the road of all the rocks and stones washed down from the mountains above the roadside. He was a well known local character who used to decorate the cottage and surrounding area with flowers and animals all made from the bits and pieces of plastic he found whilst clearing the road. The chap became a tourist attraction and even Prince Charles stopped for a look when he was in the area on a visit. Three or four times a week, he would walk down to Rhigos village for a pint or two and a chat with the locals. After his death, children from the local school kept up the roadside plastic decorations, but sadly, that has all gone now. as you can see from this blip, the mountain faces are all netted and the cottage is now a target for budding graffiti artists.
