Silver fern.
New Zealand's national symbol, especially in sporting events,is the silver fern.It is so named because the underside of the leaf is a distinct silver colour as shown in the pic. Here I have turned one leaf over to show the colour contrast of the under-side with the green of the top.New Zealand and Australia are currently co-hosting the Cricket World Cup.Four years after a devastating earthquake Christchurch has only just created a cricket venue and they were host city for the opening game. And our New Zealand team delivered. Playing Sri Lanka we beat them by almost 100 runs. Here's hoping we can continue this form for the remainder of the tournament. Either way it was a great result today.
