Sweet Inspiration
I chose this for two reasons. Mainly, I love the juxtaposition of the harpist and the statue of the musical saw player, Santa Cruz's own Tom Scribner. This spot attracts a variety of street artists, not only for the musical reference, but because it is in a high traffic area downtown just outside a fine independent bookstore. There is a young woman in the background with a portable typewriter--she will write you a poem for a donation. The other reason is to show our ridiculously summer weather; it registered 80 degrees outside our dining room window this afternoon. The harpist is quite comfortable in her sundress. I'd rather be skiing!
I've tried a bunch of times to insert the link http://www.santacruzpl.org/history/articles/243/ into the text above, but it doesnt seem to be working. You can copy this out, or just google him. It's an interesting story.
