Today's blip comes from my walk I just went on. Not too far, but I've got a horrible cold so haven't been at the gym this weekend, so I needed both a little bit of exercise and some fresh air.
I came across this. I actually went inside to see if it was still working, and it is! (the door is mega heavy to open though) I saw that it costs...wait for it...60p to make a call! What on earth! I remember using one for 10p when I was wee calling my mum from up the street (mainly because I could and felt cool doing so). Right enough that might be like, 16 or so years ago. But 60p! I remember the outrage when it went up to 20p! I don't suppose many people use them though, since we all have our own shiny mobile phones. Right enough the phone box won't run out of charge like mobiles do. So there is still a need for some of these I guess. Bizarre location though, about half a mile from the train station, near a shop, garage and residential area, plenty emergency phone options there surely.
I wonder if it's actually still there for superman to get changed in if the town of Larbert needs his help?
