Comfort blanket

Off to the National Portrait Museum, London, for the exhibition of the Photographic Portrait of the Year. Fabulous, moving, wonderful. However, what also caught my eye was the Grayson Perry exhibition beginning with the huge tapestry Comfort Blanket, described as "a portrait of Britain to wrap yourself up in, a giant banknote, things we love, and love to hate".

Apparently, migrants to Britain were once greeted, at Heathrow, with the words "Welcome to Britain, you are safe here". We were once seen as the security blanket.

This comfort blanket is wonderfully descriptive.
