Cheese!
I don't think Archie was giving us the cold shoulder for 'abandoning' him - I think he's just so tired being out of his routine, with other dogs and kids around and probably not having his wee morning and afternoon naps. He went to sleep as soon as we came home, and did not budge, even for his tea. Then he slept all night without a wee wander. He's back to his usual playful self today. I think he likes the quiet life.
Today he's had a big wash and blow dry, and I've tried to get most of his knots out. This could be a problem, as he really needs a bit of a groom every day, and dog sitters don't necessarily do this. Also, his poos indicate an upset stomach, so I suspect he's been having more than his normal kibble. What would he be like after a week? Just one big smelly knot!
It must be spring! JR has been whizzing around with the hoover and duster. She has come to realise that there's a correlation between her 'returned' (childhood) asthma and the arrival of Archie... The asthma disappears when we go away for a few nights. Archie doesn't shed hair, which is a boon, but all dogs shed 'dander' - microscopic bits of skin and hair when they shake or scratch.
I popped out for my regular blood check and discovered that I'm able to put my weight on my ankle. Almost better! Just as well - Mark the dog trainer comes back to see how we've got on with walking to heel. I think Archie will pass this test with an A+. But then we've got the hard test - other dogs nearby and him not barking hysterically...
The diet is going well, though I popped into the Co-op and accidentally bought two of their delicious rhubarb pies to go with coffee. They are quite small, so I surely they don't count.
Archie was not impressed with the present I brought him. It does not, as claimed, taste of cheese. Apparently. Though I did not try it myself...
