Hidebound
Poured all afternoon so I couldn't walk. :( I sat in Longlands Hide waiting for the rain to stop. There's a contraption in the goosefield that emits a bleep then dispenses grain. It seems that pheasants feeding in the stubble know this and run towards it when the siren sounds.
I'm a bit confused, I know that gamekeepers feed pheasants but are the pheasants here just being fed for the benefit of birders and toggers? When I arrived a couple of melanistic pheasants were feeding under the device. They're nearly black but are known as blues.
I shot the hen that I have posted from nearly directly above. Pheasant's eyes are used as motifs on fabrics, particularly tweed.
