Sea Slug

This little creature is not even an inch long; those are grains of sand in the background. Sea slugs are also called nudibranchs, but that's as far as I got with identification. Seeing it in the tidepool was the highlight of my afternoon! Friends took us on a walk to a beautiful sheltered beach up the coast where we had never been before. It was a minus tide, which revealed wonderful pools, full of tiny sea creatures. Each area had countless hermit crabs, in so many different kinds of exotic shells that I lost count. Everyone was scurrying, so the pools were alive with movement. And then there was this character, just inching along on his own.
