The Gauntlet
I have been at our local airport every Tuesday for the last five weeks, either dropping people off, or picking them up. Today was by far the best trip, however, as my wife returns from a week in Long Beach, CA visiting our daughter for Mother's Day. This time of year, there are many fewer flights coming to Zihua (much too hot and humid) and each of these flights has fewer people. That means there are fewer people waiting at the arrival gate. During the height of the season, there are literally hundreds of people crowding around the exit; hawking taxi rides, "free" breakfasts, and other activities. It can be quite intimidating, even for those of us who have traveled to Mexico many times. I can't imagine what it must be like for first-time visitors.
