Monte Palace Gardens

Another stunningly beautiful day and we decided to go up to Monte and look round their exquisite tropical gardens.

There is a section devoted to the Flora of Madeira, including a beautiful section of LauraSilva forest.

The Southern Oriental garden was looking perfect - as were the huge varieties of orchids.

Before we entered the gardens, we sat in the sun in the lovely surroundings of the Quinta do Monte (can recommend the local beer on a hot day like this)

The blip is of the view of the lake with unusual sculptures and water features.

Because there were no cruise ships in Funchal today, we could take the cable car up to Monte without queuing. A lovely experience.
