"Lovers trees" in Shibden

came across a copse of old english beech trees (which grow for hundreds of years )with carvings on them .
Some had grown out and were unreadable. lots of letters and hearts.
Some newish ones even .
Some of the dates are here that i could make out ie 1914 and 1904.
There is signs of an old track there and there were alot of mine workings in the area.One of the carvings looks like 1895 on one tree !
I imagine young lovers meeting up after work and proclaiming their love for each other with a carving
