Expensive

These free Lego toys are turning out to be probably the most expensive bits of Lego EVER. And yet I am addicted already. Three more days? Four? Tomorrow I might attempt to get into town and back without going to the cafe. We'll take drinks and sandwiches and have a picnic on the beach.

Friday I'll go by myself while Ben's at school!!

This is a (heavily processed - enjoying a new app haha) montage of our day. No time to write, may update tomorrow!

I exhaustulated Ben today!! Hehe. We got home this afternoon, made his new little lego, then he had a cuddle and fell asleep!

Today we have a montage. Too many pictures to choose one, and a story behind each one.

Ben slept in again! I got up, Ben rolled over to reach out and touch Charley and say good morning, and fell asleep again! He woke up pretty soon after though and we all went down for breakfast together. Blackberries and porridge for me and Charley again. He's seriously loving the blackberries! Might get some raspberries tomorrow to try as we've almost finished the blackberries.

Then we went out to get Charley weighed. Last time he was weighed was the last time the health visitor came round when he was three months old, he was 11lbs 10.5oz then. Of course Charley fell asleep on the way, so he had a quick nap before being woken up to be weighed. No crying though, lots of cuddles and attention - and just as I was about to take his nappy off (he was only wearing a nappy, socks and a little hat in the wrap, and I'd even remembered to put sunscreen on both boys!) Ben announced he needed a wee. Perfect timing. Anyway Charley is now 14lbs exactly. 2nd centile for those interested, following his own happy little line, and completely ignoring the lines plotted on the charts. HV had no worries, he was obviously happy and boingy and alert etc.

Along the way to the clinic I found myself ranting internally... First at a mum riding a bike. What's to rant about? Ok. For starters if you're riding a bike with a kid on the back, WEAR SOME SHOES for goodness' sake. If not to give yourself a chance if you have an accident, but to give your child a chance too. And secondly, if you're going to lug around a mammoth rucksack, perhaps wear it on your front, or get saddlebags, or a front basket or something - it's not fair on your kid if they have to sit with their face turned outwards just to avoid being squashed or hit in the face by your rucksack.

Then there's one of the schools we pass when we walk into town. I do not want Ben to be at a primary school where fighting and apparent bullying happens in the playground, and where the staff are paying little to no attention. I do not wish to buy into the "kids will be kids" rubbish. There are differences between normal rough and tumble playing, going too far and not knowing when is too much, and malice. Seeing that kind of behaviour is not really helping me at the moment, especially with the whole having to actually start thinking about schools come September.

Rant over - on to the rest of the day, which was actually pretty great! We headed straight into town after the clinic, and our first stop was the cakes cafe as I was beginning to feel like I was going to pass out with a combination of heat and hypo. Charley gummed half an almond biscotti to death, Ben had hot chocolate and the chocolate mini muffins and I had an iced mocha and the raspberry mini muffins. All fabulous.

Out of the cafe and Ben fell in love with the flower market! He wanted some pansies. We'll have to do some digging tomorrow now. The girl looking after the flower stall had amazing red hair and I didn't even think twice about asking to take her picture! Then as we were close by we called in to get the day's lego. A Star Destroyer. From there we hit the beach and Ben found various enormous rocks to pretend were spaceships. He was happy! Charley was still asleep, and I was glad I'd remembered to put suncream on them both! A wee stop meant we had to pass the Lido so we ended up in there, Ben climbed on all the ride-on things (we never put money in) and then begged to go on the trampoline so he spent a happy five minutes boinging around. Eventually I tore him away from the beach (that was hard) and we headed towards the gamestore for Mario Kart - he'd been introduced to it at the weekend and loved it.... the gamestore had some older pre-owned copies and some new. But the new ones had been priced wrongly, although they come with a steering wheel! So we ended up with an older ore-owned copy, and he threw in a steering wheel for free. So we paid the lower price and got a free wheel! Still spent the extra money as Ben found a Yoshi toy next to the checkout. Ah well.

We'd bumped into friends on our way to the gamestore so arranged to meet up with them at the cafe with the Rory ride-on, and spent a happy manic half hour there before deciding it was time to go home at last. We caught the bus home. I don't think Ben would have made it if we'd walked, even though we'd taken his bike, he was tired out just getting back from the bus stop to our house.

We managed to make his little Star Destroyer Lego, then he had a cuddle and fell fast asleep wrapped in a blanket. When Steve got home Ben was lying in a puddle, he'd been that hot wrapped in his blanket!!!

Risotto with chicken and ham for tea, and even though it was an early tea Charley still begged for bed straight after, and was asleep pretty quickly. Ben, however - well. Bother that nap. What an evening.

No work done so far this week, every evening when I get downstairs after dealing with the boys there's all the washing up to do, and usually by the time I've done that Charley's woken up and wants mama again so that's that. No chance for any work!

Here's hoping tomorrow will be less full.
