Chinese New Year

The first day of the Chinese New Year - an opportunity for celebration for the Chinese, and an excuse for an event from a marketing point of view.

St Anne's Square was one focus of the celebrations. Displaying the marketing images of the rams head against the side of the church (a fine 18th century building) seemed slightly ironic to me. It may be the year of the ram/sheep/goat in the Chinese tradition (this is the ambivalent new year), but to me it seemed a bit ironic (or do I mean appropriate) - the lamb is after all a metaphor for Christ in the Christian tradition. It is a mixed up world we live in in 2015
