At the Museum

My daughter and I took an impromptu visit to the Maier Museum of Art this afternoon.

This exhibit was "crowd-sourced".  The curator asked for suggestions from the Randolph college community for works in the collection that should be exhibited.  It was a wonderful and diverse show.

This is an Andrew Wyeth watercolor.  I really liked how engaged my daughter looks.

The Maier Museum has a very interesting history, as well as some recent controversy as the college sold some paintings in order to stay solvent.   Both sides of the issue (ethics of art collecting vs. bankruptcy) seemed to have solid arguments.  I was glad that I had no dog in the fight.

If you want to see more of the museum, here is a link to the website.
