Thursday, February 19, 2015 -- Laguna Beach
This morning I introduced two new classes of students to the English course they have enrolled in, and then I headed for home to discover that our afternoon appointment in Orange County had to cancel. I had been looking forward to this for several weeks because we had planned to go to dinner at Salerno in Laguna Beach after the appointment.
So I was disappointed and suggested that we go to Laguna, or Galuna (as we say in our family) even though we no longer had an appointment. Mr. Fun thought that sounded like a good idea.
We quickly packed our flip-flops and jackets and the three pups with their harnesses and leashes. We arrived in Laguna and first made a quick stop at "The Stand" to get a delicious bowl of hot soup. The Stand is a small health food cafe.
Then we drove a few miles to a place along the shoreline where we found parking and we headed for the sand so we could walk and walk and walk with the pups. We knew that Salerno would not open till 5:00 p.m. so we had plenty of time to walk the pups.
This day was very summer-like with absolutely no breeze along the shoreline. Dogs with their leashes on are only allowed on these beaches from September 15-June 15, which is so very different from the Central Coast.
Italian dinner at Salerno was so delicious. We both ordered a pasta sauce of garlic and olive oil. I had mine over angel-hair spaghetti and Mr. Fun ordered his over penne.
On our way home we stopped at the Whole Foods market to get a few more things to enhance this new diet we've been on since early December.
It was 50 years ago today that Mr. Fun and I started going together. We are both wondering where 50 years disappeared to.
Good night from Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
