Warwick Castle

We went to Warwick Castle this morning, mainly because the forecast for this afternoon was dire!  We did all the outdoor stuff first, including climbing up various towers and seeing the trebuchet show (if that's what you call a ball of fire being hurled by a catapult).  We then went for a tour of the dungeon.  Very good, but scary for kids.  One little girl decided right at the beginning that she didn't want to do it, which I think was a wise move.  A little boy did go in but he was looking rather pale by the end of it.

By the time we came out, it was pouring down so we went round the inside of the castle, which was very good.  Lots of wax figures to give a feel of what life was like in the castle in days of yore.  It was only later that I realised that the Tussauds Group actually own the Castle!!

This photo was taken in the Kingmaker exhibition - poor thing, having to wear heavy armour, and I'm not liking the look of that spike.

It was all really well done, and we will probably make a return visit at some point in the future on a nicer day!

We went for a little drive round afterwards, and made it as far as Kenilworth before turning back.  We were ideally looking for a nice little country put to have a late lunch but couldn't find anything that really appealed, so ended up at the pub next to the hotel.  Spent the afternoon chilling out as the weather was so dire!

Had a really lovely weekend though, and it's been a while since we went away together, so was well worth it.
