VE Day Parade

VE Day parade in George Street, Luton, on May 8, 1945 to celebrate end of World War Two merged with a modern day picture of the town. I can only imagine the relief that people felt at that time. Nothing I have experienced can even come close I'm sure.

I love the fact that it only requires a single policeman to control the crowd. If this happened today, the police would be out in force I'm sure and  although you cant make people out further back in the picture, it is noticeable that the crowd is mostly made up of women and children, the men of the town probably celebrating in their own way elsewhere, in many cases overseas no doubt. Maybe this is why the crowd was so well behaved :-)

Had to take Di to the hospital yesterday evening. She's had bronchitis for a couple of weeks now and after a week on strong meds, there has been no improvement. lots of tests and lots of waiting around but all inconclusive. Being a glass half full kind of guy (honestly, despite all the rants), I see that as a good thing. The hospital have put it down to a viral infection on the lungs and prescribed yet another inhaler. Hopefully this one will make a difference.
