Grasmere from Loughrigg Terrace

Out of the accommodation by 10.00, but not on our way home. We have 2 further nights up here at the Inn on the Lake overlooking Ullswater.

The morning was spent browsing in Ambleside, mainly at outdoor clothing shops. I bought a pair of gaiters and Susan some mittens. A coffee in Daisy's cafe rounded off the morning. The scones there were middling or better, didn't look as if they were going to be any good but they tasted better than they looked.

The afternoon was spent on an ascent of Loughrigg, a small fell which is full of character and gives excellent views all around.

We've been to the Inn on the Lake on three occasions before but this is the first time we've stopped. Had a very enjoyable evening, excellent dinner in very pleasant surroundings finished off with a drink in front of the fire. It's raining outside now!
