What was the Old Plantation pub.
Another pub closes and is converted into houses. So many of our pubs are closing every week owing to loss of trade from drinking at home. There was a campaign to save this one and create community pub but despite the efforts of the group it came to naught. I've blipped the pub before just after closed and earlier when it was fulfilling its proper purpose.
The pub grounds have been built on with two large detached houses and the old pub building itself converted, but I'm not sure if it is one dwelling or more than one. At least it is being sympathetically converted, retaining all the features of the original building and improving the not so good 20th century additions.
I blipped the old pub on my way to the allotment first thing to help deal with a couple of trailerlods of horse manure. The first lot comes at 8am - what a time! By 10am I'd had enought, we'd barrowed the first lot away to the communal heap and unloaded the second trailer by then. There were only 4 of us there so it wasn't an easy job.
Back for a shower and then into town for a few things including coffee. This was after taking the car to our local garage to see if he could fix the window channel seal. He did, but it was a close run thing as he thought the whole door panel would need removing, then had a moment of inspiration - he lubricated the whole seal inside and out and hey presto! it slid back to where it should be. A result.
We returned from town in time to see the second half of the Italy v Scotland game, which I was pleased to see Scotland win. They did well in the recent World Cup but have come second in both games in this year's Six Nations. Then it was time for England v Ireland, a game Engalnd won 21-10 but continued to display the fatel flaws of ill discipline and poor execution of final passes or ball retention. This is Engalnd's fundamental problem and something they need to put right if they want to be considered a world class team.
Peeled loads of vegetables to make one of our favourite soups for dinner - Winter Warmer which has various bits of fish in it. A pleasant end to a good day.
