Majestic beauty...
The weather may not have been on our side, but I am always overwhelmed by the majestic beauty of the lakes and mountains of Cumbria...
Looking over Lake Windermere to the snow-capped Langdale Pikes.
If you look to the left of the shot, you can just see the silhouette of Castle Wray, one of the locations where Beatrix Potter spent a Summer in her beloved Lake District. In fact Beatrix Potter was the theme of the day! After taking the ferry across Lake Windermere, we visited her home in Near Sawrey and then walked to Moss Eccles Tarn, the inspiration for 'The Tale of Mr Jeremy Fisher'. Our day ended in Hawkshead where we visited The Beatrix Potter Gallery to view some of her extraordinary artwork; a very talented lady, with a wonderful imagination. Apparently Beatrix said the secret to her success was that she had never grown up, there's a lesson there for all of us!!
