Heron in flight

I had a brief walk this morning and hadn't gone very far before I startled a heron and he took off right in front of me.

With a very rapid draw and shoot, I was worried I had cut off a wing or his head because I was still on the settings I had been using for a much smaller and more distant pied stilt.  Or, without having waited to focus properly, that it might be blurry.

You can imagine my delight when I found I had got all of the heron in the photo and it was sharp. The photo Gods smiled on me today..
