Our new friend
I would like to say that this was intended to be soft focus. But of course it wasn't. I had seconds to grab the camera, fortunately with a long lens on, and try a 'through the window' shot. This was my test shot, using manual focus. Before I could adjust to auto focus and get a second shot, the dear bird had flown off. We are currently getting, around the house, a pair of lovesick collared doves, an occasional band of gulls, a cock pheasant who parades from time to time on the lawn, and this black, white and red feller. I've worked out a solution: I should keep a camera with a long lens ready near the windows in each of the kitchen, Helen's study, and the spare bedroom. I proposed for this plan to purchase another two camera bodies plus two telephoto lenses. Helen objects. I just can't think why!
