St. Mary, Monknash Church.

This 12th century grade II listed Norman medieval church complete with a stone bellcote which makes it look almost cottage like in appearance. It was under the control of Neath Abbey which apparently gave it the "monk" part of the name "Monknash". Legend has it that the roof timbers were made from the wreck of a Spanish Armada Galleon which was washed up on the rocky beach a few hundred yards away. The floor of the chancel is made from the gravestones of local families.
