Duck! Low Flying Spatulas

I watched the shoveler ducks at Fishers Green yesterday swimming in circles in pairs. Lots of pairs were involved, it looked a bit like a country dance.

Plenty of shovelers at Amwell Nature Reserve this afternoon. They use their large spatulate bills to sieve tiny organisms out of the water. This female is outnumbered seven to one.
