life’s a beach
I really didn’t imagine that I would stick it out. I wanted to, but wasn’t sure I’d have the dedication.
Reasons to be Blipful;
1.The people.
Support from virtual strangers. That’s a bit of an understatement. It doesn’t really do justice to the care and attention that fellow blippers lavish on each other. Virtual strangers have become virtual friends.
I’d like to add something like ‘from all corners of the World’ but then Anniemay would helpfully point out the impossibility of a sphere having such things and that I could, perhaps, make a colourful list of countries instead. Mathematics’ gain is Poetry’s loss.
On the other hand, I could point out that if it’s good enough for Shakespeare then it’s good enough for me ….. Anyway, you know where you are and I know where you are (roughly). Some of you are geographically close - others are very far away.
2. The lack of tech-talk.
No pixel peeping or the weird stuff like 50 Shades of Grayscale that seems to dominate other photo forums. The camera - whether it be phone or DSLR - is irrelevant. The journals are allowed to speak for themselves.
3. Education.
Consider the following deductive argument :
Premise 1; Blip is fun.
Premise 2; learning is fun.
Conclusion; Blip = learning.
Now some might argue that Blip is not fun and others might argue that neither is learning. And if that were the case then the conclusion would fail. But I cannot envisage anyone suggesting that they have not learnt something from Blip - either about their photographic skills, about themselves or about the world in general. So my conclusion holds - and so by extension - does premise 1 and premise 2. I rest my case.
I’ve learnt a lot over the past 365 days. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with me. It’s been fun.
Thank you Anniemay.
