Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Wednesday, March 4, 2015 Catalina Island

We had a meeting this afternoon in Orange County with our retirement advisor, so when that concluded we knew that heading east toward home would be impossible with all the commuter traffic headed back into the Inland Empire were we live, so we headed west toward the ocean.

This morning the winds had blown out here, but it had not occurred to us that 40 miles west of us on the coast the wind had also blown and that the view would give us such a spectacular look at Santa Catalina Island. We love seeing that island. We spend a week of summer at family camp every year on that piece of geography.

Once we arrived at the ocean (in Newport Beach), we turned left to head south on the coast toward Laguna Beach to have dinner at our favorite little Italian restaurant, Salerno. It’s a small “mom & pop” place with delicious food. I ordered oil & garlic, extra garlic, over angel hair with a dinner salad. We splurged and had one piece of 4-layer chocolate cake for dessert. It was so rich that we brought half of it home for tomorrow. We also brought half of my meal home with us, so tomorrow’s lunch or dinner is going to be another delicious mean.

Tomorrow is another day at the campus, so I better get to bed now.

Good night from Southern California.
