Water!

I was surprised to see so much water in the Waimakariri River today. The smaller rivers have dried up. This view looks across the river to Burnt Hill in North Canterbury. It was lovely to see so much green. Most of the land that is not irrigated is much the same as the field in the foreground. Some of the willows are turning yellow. I saw many Lombardy poplars in autumn dress two months before the proper time.  When it rains we are lucky to get 1mm.

I went to Christchurch to do my shopping. I entered only one shop other than a greengrocer’s and the supermarket, and I stopped at this place on the way home to have my lunch.
