Bumbong
On the right is the house where I slept, under the stars in the courtyard - in the hard-to-get-to village of Bumbong No.1.
The story is told in yesterday's blip.
In the morning we had another meeting in the church - all just about squeezing into the shelter and onto those benches - after chicken and rice at 9am (that was after breakfast of millet porridge at 7am). Same issues with translation, same response.
After that we had a meeting with the local church leaders who told us of their plans to build a bigger and more permanent building. At this point you might expect them to tell you how they have no money and need help - but they'd worked out how they can raise the money and get the work done, all except the roof - could we help them with the cost of roofing sheets, a little over £200 in UK money?
Impressed by their vision and determination - we'll do what we can.
On the left of the picture, in front of the mango tree, the two giant baskets are food stores - one containing maize, the other millet. Then by the shelter (where we had our meals) you can see some thatch ready to fix roofs.
