In a bit of a hurry

Spoilt for photo choices today - unlike yesterday.
Would it be a shot from a Sydney wildlife park, motor-racing up the road from the park, or the Sydney Vivid Lights on the Opera House later tonight ??
The racer got it. Free entry day at this track so figured I'd practice some motion blur. I can say this - there was one half-decent shot to...well, a ton or more of not so good ones. I went for this one because it had just a glimpse of his eyes.
I just wanna know one thing - how do you get this kind of shot 'tack-sharp' - as the books put it.
Maybe I should've upped the shutter-speed a bit? Would love any tips on this.
