Chogoria gate camp

We started our trek in Mount Kenya National Park at the Chogoria Gate, spending our first night in one of the huts near the gate. Unsure of how close to a bothy the huts would be, we were pleasantly surprised to find them with beds, a fireplace and even a shower, with water heated by a wood burning stove.

In the morning we set off under brilliant blue skies, through the forest and into the park.
