Buxom wench at the roadside stop for lunch
Caught the Volvo Bus which was comfortable enough for the 5 hour journey to Delhi. Signs at the front stated that it was 'oprated by Mahendra Travels' – whoever they are they hadn't repaired the cracked windscreen and I watched the cracks lengthen till they reached all across the windscreen and from to top and bottom as we travelled. My seat partner spoke very good English, but not to me as he was constantly playing with his mobile, either talking or tapping time to music with his foot and playing the drums with his hands. The roads are improving all the time with massive flyovers being built on stilts through villages and small towns instead of making by-passes – signs at the entrance to road works politely stated 'inconvenience regretted' and there was one sign that said 'for fatal ring number...' - not sure whether that didn't set the alarm bells ringing. Arrived in Delhi in a huge thunder storm – very cold in the rickshaw but am now safely welcomed into a friend's house.
