For to sail the seven seas...
Trip down to Newcastle this afternoon with Mr M and Louie. Mr M had arranged to take an instrument to its new owner, who was attending an event at the Ouseburn Valley Farm.
The Ouseburn Valley is an interesting area, in the mid-nineteenth century a hub of industry and boat building. It's now an attractive 'urban village', and the old mills have been converted in to facilities for the arts, culture, housing, small businesses and leisure. And, of course, there's the 'urban farm'.
Nice stroll by the river with Louie. This fantastic vessel is on the Ouseburn outside 'Seven Stories', the National Centre for Children's Books. According to their website, they
"select original artwork and manuscripts - from first scribbles to finished books - to create our innovative exhibitions and popular events.
Seven Stories celebrates children's books. How books are made, where they come from and how we can enjoy and share them. It's a great day out for the whole family!"
Sounds wonderful, and good to see that it seems very popular with children and their parents.
Then in to central Newcastle where Mr M and I indulged in coffee and cake, and tried out some very nice sofas...
