Gift of the Wind. Leitz Elmarit 90mm
This kinetic sculpture in Porter Square was unveiled in 1985 at around the same time that I was getting to know the different neighborhoods of Boston. It has been a constant in my peripheral vision for 30 years. Today is a balmy 54°F spring day and, as I had to be in the vicinity, it seemed like a good subject for a Blip. The sculpture could use a good lick of paint after all these years but clearly its bearings still work beautifully. There was a very minimal breeze and yet the vanes were rotating around their axes. It was a matter of choosing how to line them up for the Blip. Here's a link to the Wiki article.
