Wednesday, March 11, 2015 -- Sundown
The clock was reporting almost 7:00 when I looked toward the back yard from our kitchen and the sky was quite gray. Then I turned and could see across our front rooms through the windows and immediately I started heading for the door so I could get outside to see it, really see it. I stepped outside to discover that a light rain was falling. I took a few pictures and then headed indoors and upstairs.
From our upstairs office, I could see more neighborhood and magenta sky. The sight was beautiful.
For a large portion of this day I've graded student papers. My students are learning to summarize, and the first step is to find an author's main point, which seems just about impossible for most of them to do. Even though most of my students know how to read, most don't know what they've read. They are distracted by many things. So focusing to read even a small newspaper article is tough work for them. I discovered recently on the Internet there's a group dedicated to converting our language to all symbols. That seems as though we're moving backward. The cave people used symbols.
It's late.
Good night from Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
