Silvery Checkerspot

Another busy day....thankfully, the humidity wasn't quite as annoying as yesterday. It still was pretty hot, even here in the woods.

As I walked out of the house this morning, I spotted the biggest moth! I was going to Blip it and call it BeheMOTH, but this little Silvery Checkerspot Butterfly was so sweet, I decided to go with it instead.

This butterfly had to be a model! It sat still as I circled the camera all around it...in front, back, left side, right side! It seems butterflies are usually so fleeting.

I really like this shot even with the harsh shadow, because the antennae showed up so well! The butterfly was busy on a Milkweed leaf, so intent, it didn't acknowledge my presence.

I saw several other butterflies today, but was not able to get anywhere close enough for a photo!
