Capetown Cheetahs
We visited the Cheetah Outreach, 30 - 40 minutes drive from Capetown, this morning. It's a very worthwhile venture, enabling this noble but endangered animal to live where humans can see it and be encouraged to do all they can to preserve it and work towards it's safety. I was really impressed to see the work with the Anatolian dogs, which are given to farmers to look after and protect their flocks, so that the cheetahs aren't shot for harming the stock. We were allowed to stroke the 10 month old 'babies', under the very watchful eyes of their keepers. Such wonderful animals and such a privilege to have seen them. They can't be released back into the wild, because they've been reared by humans, but the future of wild cheetahs is being enabled by the work that's been done at Cheetah Outreach. You can find that work here.
