Ubirr
If Darwin wasn't my most favourite place on my six-week tour of Australia (see yesterday's entry) then the places I saw over the next few days most definitely were. Our three-day tour of Kakadu and Nitmiluk National Parks were breath-taking, both in terms of their scenery and their history.
First up was a trip to Ubirr to see the rock art gallery. These astounding paintings are believed to be several thousand years old and the site itself is believed to have been inhabited by humans for around 40,000 years.
This picture is of Garranga’rreli, the Rainbow Serpent, who was the original creator spirit that brought life into being.
