Lunch
Day Two of our tour of Kakadu National Park saw us take a leisurely cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong in the afternoon having visited another spectacular rock art site in the morning. The wildlife on and around the river was astonishing and a photographer's and naturalist's dream.
Sometimes I wish I was a better photographer and could have made a better job of capturing some of the birds and plants we saw on our tour, but then I consider it just a privilege to have been there and see them in the first place. The memories will remain long after the photographs have been forgotten.
As we made our leisurely way along the river it was not difficult to notice the crocodiles resting lazily on the banks and small islands. All was quiet until, with a mad and sudden 'whoosh', one of them would dive into the water and come out with a fish clenched between its large teeth. By golly, these creatures are fast when they need to be!
A few bites, chews and gulps later, when lunch had been served, they returned to their lazy day-dreaming - perhaps of what to eat for dessert.
